Website Redesign vs a New Website: Which Does Your UAE Business Need?

Updated Oct 2026~8 min read

If your website looks dated but works, a redesign may be all you need. If it is slow, hard to update, or cannot do what your business now needs, a new website is the better investment. This guide compares the two routes side by side — cost, timeline, SEO impact and results — and gives you a checklist to decide by your own situation.

The Short Answer

The short answer: if your website’s foundation — its platform, speed, structure and content — is basically sound and the problem is how it looks and how well it turns visitors into enquiries, a redesign is usually enough, and it costs less.

If the foundation itself is the problem — outdated technology, slow loading, a site you cannot update yourself, or no way to add the features your business now needs, such as an online store, bookings or an Arabic version — a new website is the better investment, because redesigning on top of a weak foundation means paying twice. The sections below explain what each option actually involves, compare them side by side, and give you a checklist to decide by your own situation.

What a Website Redesign Actually Means

A redesign keeps your existing website’s foundation and rebuilds how it looks and reads. The platform stays, the domain stays, most page addresses (URLs) stay, and your content is edited and restructured rather than written from zero. What changes is the layer your customers see: layout, branding, images, headings, calls to action and the mobile experience.

A redesign is the right tool when the site underneath is healthy. It is also the lower-risk option for your Google presence, because when URLs stay the same, the search visibility you have already built is not disturbed.

What a New Website Means

A new website replaces the old one from the ground up: new structure, new content written around the business you run today, and — where needed — a new platform. You keep your domain name; the website itself is rebuilt so it can do what the old one could not: sell online, take bookings, run in Arabic as well as English, or simply load fast and work properly on phones.

Choose this route when the foundation is the problem. No amount of new design fixes a website that is slow, insecure, impossible to update, or built on technology that cannot support the features you need.

Decision Checklist: Which Situation Are You In?

A redesign is probably enough if:

  • Your website loads at a reasonable speed and works on mobile, but looks dated next to your competitors.
  • Your logo or branding changed and the website no longer matches it.
  • The information on the site is mostly right, but visitors still call to ask basic questions — the layout and calls to action are the problem, not the content.
  • You get traffic but few enquiries, and there is no clear WhatsApp or call action for visitors to use.
  • Your services have evolved a little, but the business itself is fundamentally the same.

You probably need a new website if:

  • Your website is slow, broken on phones, or built with technology that can no longer be updated or secured.
  • You cannot edit anything yourself — every small text change needs a developer.
  • Your business has changed: new services, new markets, or customers across the UAE and beyond that the old site never mentions.
  • You need features the current site cannot support — an online store with payments, a booking system, a customer portal, or an Arabic/bilingual version.
  • The site no longer represents the size or quality of your business — for example, a single page or an old template standing in for a company that has since grown.

If your honest answers fall in both lists, the foundation problems decide it: fix those first, which usually means a new website. See what our website development service includes.

What Each Option Costs

A new website has published pricing. Our Starter package is from AED 999 (4–5 pages, .com domain and standard hosting for 1 year, SSL, basic SEO setup, WhatsApp integration and a contact form; CMS and analytics are optional extras; 15 days of post-launch bug support and 2 consolidated revision rounds). The Business package is AED 2,499 (up to 10 pages, with CMS and analytics included, 30 days of bug support and 2 revision rounds per phase). Larger websites, online stores and custom builds are priced by quotation — see the full package details.

A redesign is priced by quotation, as a scoped Custom project — and any company that gives you a fixed redesign price without looking at your existing website is guessing. The cost depends on what you already have: how many pages, which platform, how much of the content and design actually changes, and whether the foundation needs repairs before design work even starts. What you should always get, and what we provide, is a written proposal with scope, price and timeline before any work begins. Redesigns carry the Custom terms: post-launch bug support of at least 30 days and 2 revision rounds per phase, with extra rounds quoted. For a detailed breakdown of website pricing, read how much a website costs in the UAE.

Two cost warnings apply to both routes. First, a redesign of a large, messy old website can cost more than a clean new Starter website — size matters more than the label. Second, the cheapest decision now can be the expensive one later: paying for a redesign this year and a rebuild next year costs more than choosing the rebuild once. On all projects, premium domains, email hosting, paid plugins, renewals and third-party fees are separate, and an Arabic or bilingual version is a paid add-on, quoted separately with the right-to-left layout included and translation provided by you or charged separately.

Protecting Your Google Presence, Either Way

Whichever route you choose, do not throw away the visibility your current website has already earned. Keep the URLs that are working wherever possible. Where a URL has to change — common in a new build — set up a redirect from the old address to the new page, so visitors and Google land in the right place instead of an error page.

Keep the content that is bringing you traffic, and make sure basic SEO setup — titles, descriptions, mobile-friendly pages Google can index — is part of the work, not an afterthought. A rebuild without redirects is the most common way businesses lose search traffic they spent years building.

The Short Version

  • Design problem, sound foundation → redesign. Faster, usually cheaper, and safer for your existing Google presence.
  • Foundation problem → new website. Slow, uneditable, insecure or feature-limited sites do not become good sites with a new coat of paint.
  • Both problems → new website. Solve the foundation and the design in one project instead of paying for two.

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually, yes — when the existing foundation is sound, because the platform, structure and much of the content are reused. But not always: redesigning a large old website can cost more than a new Starter website from AED 999. A redesign is quoted after reviewing your site; new websites have published package prices, so you can compare both routes in writing.

A new corporate website typically takes 2–4 weeks and an e-commerce website 4–8 weeks. A redesign timeline depends on the size of your current site and how much changes, and is confirmed in writing in your proposal before work starts.

Not if it is handled properly. The risk comes from changing URLs without redirects and dropping content that was ranking. With redirects from old pages to new ones and the working content carried across, a new website should keep your visibility — and a faster, mobile-friendly site gives Google a better website to rank.

Sometimes. If your current platform supports it cleanly, adding a store or a bilingual version can be part of a redesign. If the platform cannot support it properly, forcing it in creates a fragile website, and a new build is the better route. Either way, an Arabic or bilingual version is a paid add-on: the right-to-left layout work is included in its quotation, and translation is provided by you or charged separately.

Yes. Most redesign work starts with websites built by someone else. We review your current site first — its platform, speed, structure and content — and then confirm in the proposal whether a redesign is enough or a new website makes more sense.
